Creating a Meaningful Life by Loving God and Others

Seashell Mirror

Hi everyone! Summer might be over, but it’s never too late to decorate an old mirror with shells! I thought of doing this after I bought it at a garage sale a couple months ago. I wasn’t a huge fan of the dark color so I decided to paint it! 🙂

Let’s get on with the project!

DIY seashell mirror. Fun craft for teen girls.

What you’ll need:

  • Mirror
  • Hot glue gun
  • Sea shells (I believe I got the shells from Hobby Lobby… You can find them in any craft store, unless you’d rather look for them at the beach… which sounds like fun!)
  • Peach paint (I got mine from Lowe’s but I can’t remember the name of the color)
  • Paint brush
  • A trash bag (or something to keep the paint from getting onto the floor. I’m a messy painter so I need all the help I can get)

Before you paint, you should clean the mirror to get all the dust off. Don’t want any of those dust specks to show through the paint…

Step 1: Paint the mirror. Mix the paint before applying it to the mirror. Also, you should probably put primer on before using the paint. I didn’t put it on, but the paint’s still on the mirror, so I guess it’s okay not to use it.

Also, I’m not sure how long it’ll take for the paint to dry. It took me all day to do this craft, mostly because I would get distracted and forget that the mirror still needed painting lol.

Step 2: Glue the shells onto the flat parts of the frame.

Work as quickly as possible, since the glue can dry really fast. But don’t burn yourself! (I’ve done that far too many times while making this)

Aaand you’re done! Great job on glamming up your plain old mirror!

To be honest, this is the first time I’ve done anything like this. I’ve seen plenty of these projects on Pinterest, and since I got my mirror from a garage sale, I thought, hey, this would make a great post!  So I did it! Now if I could find a place to put it…

I hope you’ll have a great week!
